Game Production Week 10, The Final Week

Alright everyone, its finally time. The dust is about to settle and all of our effort will hopefully pay off with this game. Its been a long road to get here and I lost my car in the process, but it is finally time. There are no milestones left, everything is almost ready to go for presentation. As always there haven't been any problems for me. The planning stage over; the time to act is drawing closer. Today I just made one more asset for Brian to use in the game, wrote the post mortem, and am now writing the last post in our group's blog. The project and my team have been stellar then entire time. We have been on time with our assignments, both given to eachother and for deadlines. All in all this was a good group and a good project.

Game Production Blog Week 9

Well folks, its almost over. Its been a good run, but all things must come to an end at some point. We are done pretty much, my part especially. Jack is finishing up his "Death Wagon" trap for the game and Brian is almost done with the level. Brian also couldn't make it to class this week, so he's sending in his work early Monday. Like I said, we are pretty much done, we just need to put the finishing touches on everything and pretty it up. There's nothing in the way of improvement, maybe polishing some things here or there, but that's about it. None of my milestone goals were changed, I have been on point with all of my assignments from the team. No problems have come up for me. Since we are practically done, the planning phase is long gone. There are things that we could add, but time constraints wouldn't let, maybe if we carry this game on after this class, which is doubtful. Today I gave Jack renders of the assets I did so he could post them on his blog post, which should follow this one so look forward to that. Like I have always been saying, great team, great project.

Game Production Blog Week 8

How's it going everyone? Well we have two week left, its been a good run. I am pretty much done, I have all of my assigned assets finished. I will probably work on a light switch, like Amanda pointed out. Our milestones kind of changed, we are ahead of schedule with our objectives. We need to touch up everything now and get feedback on how the game plays. So far, no problems have come up. Everything is working out just fine with everyone. I spent my time today working on more assets to be placed around the map. The project is great so far, as well as my team, we have been working smoothly.

Game Production 3 Blog 7 Holiday Edition

Happy belated Thanksgiving to everybody, hope it was filled with good food, and good times. We didn't have class this week because of the holiday. I managed to get a little bit of work done. All I really need to do is make a couple of assets and textures for the game and should be good. None of our goals changed, as far as I know, our team hasn't really talked since last Saturday. That being said our team is pretty coordinated and dead set on something when we think of it. We still have yet to run into any trouble, we are a solid group. We might have shot to high with some of our ideas, simply because of time constraints, but they would have just been bells and whistles. Like I said, no problems so far. My team is pretty and I am honored to work with them on this project.

Game Production Week 6 Blog

Hello again everyone. We finished the first half of our game and we are now underway with the second half. We finished our design document and will turn it in shortly. Since we don't have class next week, because of Thanksgiving. I am about to start working on smaller assets and their textures. I plan to make more and improve upon textures. None of the goals have been changed, we just started assigning goals for the second half of the project. So far, there have not been any problems on my end. Everything is working so far, we are pretty much done planning, and are now implementing. My time spent was sketching up another concept for the character. I really didn't like how the first concept art piece turned out, so I created a new one, and am much more satisfied with it. My team and our project is turning out really well so far, no problems.

Blog week 5

Well everyone, we're half way there. Our presentation went well, no really problems, I think everybody could tell it was a stealth game. Right now, I am working on assets and texturing them. We need to get rid of Unreal's meshes and put our own in there, but in the mean time we are using placeholder ones. We're progressing smoothly, no problems, I just need to keep modeling. I haven't changed any of my goals, but need an updated set from Jack so I can know what to do for the next five weeks. Whatever problems arose, I tried to help with the best of my knowledge. Everything is working well right now, we just need to pretty everything up. I spent today doing some assets before the presentation so our rooms wouldn't be too empty. Our project is still going great, we just need to keep on working.

Game Production Blog Week 4

Hey everybody, back for week four. The latest thing I did was create both doors for the level. One door rises and the other slides open. Right now I am waiting for whatever work comes my way, but we are pretty much ready to show off our rough build of our game next week. After that, over the next few weeks, we need to work on more kizmet stuff and optimize everything so we can get a nice and polished game for the last week of class. My milestone goals were kind of switched around from last week to this week. This week was supposed to be concepts of the HUD and textures and last week was supposed to be assets, but they switched. Still haven't come into any trouble, we are a pretty good group. Mostly everything is working at this point. We just need to figure out how make the traps damage the player and work on the texture for destroying the energy core to complete the level. I spent my time working on assets and more textures for the level, no problems to speak of. This project is running smoothly, like I said we are pretty good team.

Blog3

Hello everyone, this is Brian from team Oreo. Today we had an all work day pretty much. The project is going steady. Jack wasn't with us today but he has been busy making assets for our game in his absence. Joe gave me textures to use for the game today which is really helpful, now i can begin to make the level PRETTY. The level block-out however, is fully complete and was delivered to the teacher today. Everything is still on pace. Once Jack returns we'll begin placing assets in the level. I am going to be working on traps for the level for the time being.

Week 2 0f Game Production 3

Hey everyone, welcome back to Team Oreo's blog. We're starting to kick everything into gear now. We now have a solid idea of what we will be doing for the next few weeks for the half way point of our project. We have assigned all of our jobs to whom is most capable. We just now created our milestone goals and they are very manageable. We still have yet to run into any problems, we are a solid group. The one thing that might not work on time is all the kismet stuff we want to do. Some of it may be too grandiose, or may not, we'll have to see when we get to that point. This class was spent getting everything together and solidifying ideas. Our general idea for the game is a good one, we are not getting in over our heads hopefully. We're a good team and definitely look forward to what we have in store in the future!

Hello and Welcome to our Project!

How's it going everyone? I'm Joe, along with Brian, and Jack. We are working on a game in the Unreal Engine. We are still pretty early on in our brainstorming of what kind of game we want it to be, so far we are thinking stealth, with a cyber or steam punk theme. I, personally am an artist and a little bit of a level designer. I initially planned on working alone and doing an art demo in Unreal, but Jack and Brian approached me to help them out with the work load of their game, and I was glad to accept. Like I said before, we are in a very early stage of development; we just started brainstorming. So far we need to discuss our milestone goals, but I am pretty sure for me it will be to do materials, assets, some level, and maybe a little bit of the mechanics. So far there are no problems, everything is starting off pretty well. We all agree on the genre and theme of the game pretty much, so no discrepancies thus far. We just started planning our game, so problems have yet to arrive. I have a good feeling about this project, along with my other core class, I want to make these projects portfolio pieces. Thank you for your time and stay tuned to see what we can come up with.
